It kind of looks like a car?

This is what a blown head gasket looks like. So now I know why the previous owner said there was no compression in that cylinder.

The engine is out!

I took some time to clean the area and the car up a bit. Looking for parts now for the door, but 2 screws still need to get drilled out and re-tapped. The floor boards look good and solid now.

Brakes/Engine

I'm working on pulling the frozen hand brake out. I also removed the passager side door that has a bad lower hinge. I have the engine mounts loose, drive shaft disconnect just a few more things befor I can pull the engine out.

Still working....

It’s taken about the time I expected, It’s costing about what I expected, but it’s taking way more beer then I expected! I removed the heater box and started to strip the engine down, lot’s of rusty bolts, but it’s going ok. I also stopped by the local paint store “Body Shop Supply” and they were very helpful with suggestions on primer and paint.

I’m still disassembling and cleaning.

I got the passage side fender, most of the interior and front bumper off.

Gettting the MG home

Bright and early Saturday morning we picked up the MG. It made the 40 mile trip well with only a small issue with a tire. The U-Haul car dolly was simple to use and the front wheels just fit on the ramps. Jim said that he could not even fell the difference towing the MG in his Ford F150.

When we got it home I cleaned it up a bit. I pulled out the seats and carpet to get the insides to dry out. There was a small amount of rust on the floor pans, but big damage no holes.
